Open-Air Studies in Light and Shadow: One of my greatest joys is painting landscapes “en plein air,” the French expression for “in the open air.” Sometimes I finish paintings in one sitting. Other times I work in multiple sittings, but always at the same time of day, so the light and shadows remain consistent.
